  5 Stars Keeps me daydreaming while they are dry
  I am a fifty year old average built male and have been running since my teens, minus a year or two. I run two hours daily (daily), which turns out to be about twelve miles per run. I have a tendency to daydream while I run and if the shoe does not feel or fit right, fantasy land does not exist. I have run in about every shoe made and did not get particular until a few years ago. I now only buy Asics, but sometimes stray to another brand just for a bit of adventure. I tried the Asics Men’s Gel-Pluse Running Shoe from the 1st of September until now the end of October 2009. I have a few months to go before I change them, since I wear them completely out about every four months (devastate them at six months, which I do not recommend). I am fairly impressed with the land and the wear on the sole. I have used this shoe during the summer/fall time so I cannot say how it does in the winter months in the Tacoma/Seattle area. The landing is particularly soft and of course there are no blisters (ever) or break-in time for this brand. You put them on and they are ready to run. The color selection was a little drab, but if they offered it in neon pink I have to wonder if I would purchase it. This shoe, like many others, has a problem when it gets wet. The laces will not stay tied, so double knot them when it is raining. When the shoe gets wet it will throw back any needles, dirt or gravel into the vamp, wedging themselves between the sock and medial. Eventually it works it’s way into the shoe, forcing one to stop to remove it. This is because the tread of the shoe has so many gaps, which trap particles. I have found this problem to be systemic with all running shoes though. The shoe does dry quickly without loss of structural integrity. I give this shoe a five star rating because of the comfort, which exceeds the cost.

  4 Stars Great for longer distance, cushy, but less responsive.
  I bought this shoe for longer distances. It does provide plenty of cushion in the heel (and the midsole and toe when you start to get tired and lose running form). This shoe is not ideal for sprinting a 5K, but worked good for my 40 mile ultramarathon 3 days ago. Also, the arch support could be a little more. This is great for a neutral, but if you have a higher arch, the support will only be adequate. I would have preferred more arch support (higher in sole) during my last run.

  I recommend combining this shoe with the sof-sole that fits you best.

1 Star Not for people with flat feet
I bought these and wore them to the gym to run on the treadmill. As soon as i get 5 mins into my run. I get this pain on the arch of my foot,like im running on needles. To make it a short story, the arches on this shoe are to high and are not for people whose feet dont have an arch, they are more so for people who have high arches. Cause these shoes pressed hard into the nerves of ma feet and caused me to get a blister on the side of ma foot. and this is only after 10mins of running….and oh yeah will be returning these for a refund.

5 Stars A footnote!
I had major ankle reconstruction in January 09 and after recovery I needed a shoe with arch support. I tried some shoes that were for weak arches but they failed in a few week. I need to mention here that I weigh 350 lbs….so I am [...] weak shoes. I thought I would try these Asics that were made for over pronating ankles, since mine was “fixed” these might just be the solution for “arch support” shoes. I have been wearing them for two months and am very satisfied with their performance and durability. I have purchased another pair in case they go obsolete I will have an extra pair!

3 Stars Comfortable but not durable
These shoes are very comfortable. I walk 4 miles a day in Florida. The mesh on them keep my feet cool. The only problem I had was that within two months I had holes on both shoes from my big toes. The mesh material around the toes is not durable and easy to wear through. If they put a little more vinyl around the toes they would be perfect. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn but I dont want to buy a new pair every two months.

Great shoe, true to size. Comfortable and lightweight. Had the Gel-Evolution 4 prior and liked it a lot, so went with the new model and it’s just as great.

2 Stars Broke down too quickly.
I purchased these shoes after putting about 350 miles on my Brooks Beasts. I wanted something lighter and more “contemporary” than the Beast. These shoes felt great when I tried them on the first time, and with the reputation of Asics, I was confident in my purchase.

For your reference, about me: I’m 6′3″, 235 lbs, athletic build runner. Wide foot. Medium arch. I run four times a week with each run being at least 4 miles and never more than 8. I have averaged about 22-23 miles weekly for a while. I have been professionally fitted for running shoes and require a high-quality, motion control shoe.

The first several times that I ran in the shoes, I LOVED them. The lighter weight and flexibility cut 15-20 seconds off my splits instantly. They were VERY comfortable and a true joy to run in. But unfortunately, that was short lived. About 60-70 miles into their use, the arches started to break down. Soon after, I began to experience mild ankle discomfort and moderate knee pain just as I had when my Beasts hit about 300 miles. As I continued to run, the discomforts worsened. At 100 miles, I replaced the insoles with a Superfeet insoles. This improved the arch support, but mostly destroyed the comfort and flexibility characteristics of the shoe. It’s like running in the Beasts, only without the cushion. I have about 140-150 miles on them now, and they are shot. The sole foam is significantly compressed. I have been running in them only twice a week and using my old Beasts for the two longer runs.

Overall, I am disappointed in these shoes and Asics in general. I have many friends (most seem to be smaller) who are serious runners and swear by the brand. I definitely would not consider buying another pair of these for my general running. I might buy another pair to keep exclusively for races, as I feel like I can fly in them. Maybe there is a happy medium out there in another shoe?

4 Stars Great Running Shoe!
This shoe is perfect for racing short distances (5K or less). I would not recommend this shoe for anything longer than a 5K simply because it does not have enough cushion. One other benefit of this shoe is that it looks great.

4 Stars ASICS GEL-Frantic 4 running shoe
I got diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and after some research on how my foot lands when running I ended up buying this model which made my troubled foot feel great right away. I owned one pair in another color, and I bought this one to have a 2nd set.

The only negative about this 2nd pair is that the glue is coming undone from the sole around the toe area of my left foot. I think it is from playing too much table tenis on carpet.

This is my third purchase of a Running shoe in ASICs Kahana series. Nice looking, long wearing, and comfortable shoe that can be worn day to day, during exercising, or on the trail. I do purchase one size larger with ASICs shoes and it seems to work out just right.

I don’t run much but need plenty of arch support. These shoes definately have it. I did run a bit and the shock absorbing qualities are much better than the 474 New Balance that I had. So far my vote is a 5 star (day one).

5 Stars comfort at a low price
Ok, I don’t run, but I’m over 60 and do like to protect my feet from impact while walking and these shoes do a truly excellent job of that as well as providing great support for the entire foot. Initially, they felt a bit more narrow than most mediums, but after a few days everything felt fine.

I’m thinking of getting another pair so I have them when this pair wears out.

4 Stars comfortable, but a slightly small
I bought these shoes to play racquetball. This is the first shoe I purchased specifically for racquetball. I normally wear basketball shoes, but find basketball shoes to be clumsy. I wear ASICS running shoes several days a week, so I ordered the same size in these shoes. These shoes are very comfortable, other than feeling a little short in length. PROS: They perform well with good grip and they are not nearly as bulky/clumsy as basketball shoes. CONS: They are not as lightweight as I expected from ASICS. I doubt I get this shoe again when it is time to replace them.

4 Stars Decent Shoe
I’m a 25-30 mile per week runner and found this shoe very comfortable. The sole is wearing a lot faster than I would have expected, but I think it will last a full 500 miles so I guess I can’t complain much. If you plan on putting much more than 500 miles on your shoes, this one probably isn’t for you just because of the soft sole issue.
